Gary was until 2011, UK Director of Small Business Banking at Yorkshire and Clydesdale Banks and also held the roles of Head of Retail Banking and Head of Business Banking for Yorkshire Bank . He was previously North East and Cumbria Regional Director of SME Banking for Barclays Bank.
Gary is a Non-Executive Director at a variety of companies across Yorkshire and the North East including Howard Civil Engineering Ltd, Whitecap Consulting Ltd, Walsh Taylor Insolvency and Business Support Group, Personal Support Network Ltd , New Home Finder.com, Jalna Construction Ltd , Erimus Insurance Brokers, Active Financial Services Ltd, Agile ICT Group, and Hellens Residential Ltd a social housing provider based in the North East. He is also Non-Executive Chairman of Simply Thank You.com as well as being a Partner in G&H Property which is a residential property development and investment company and is an Executive Director in SE Decorators Ltd which specialises in commercial property maintenance.
Gary is an active member of the North East and Yorkshire business community and has held leadership roles in various industry forums, including Board Member of Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership and Chair of the Access To Finance Committee that monitors the performance of the Yorkshire Regional Venture Funds managed by Finance Yorkshire. He was also President of Leeds Chamber of Commerce from 2008 -2011. He is currently on the Investment Panel for the North East Lets Grow Regional Growth Fund.
Gary is a Mentor/ Tutor on the Goldman Sachs 10000 Small Business Programme run by Leeds University Business School .
Gary was awarded an MBE for Services to the Finance Industry in the 2008 New Years Honours List and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers Scotland.
