What makes your company special? Tell us about your business

We came from a family of construction workers, my dad was a plasterer, my uncle is an electrician, my aunt is a plumber and the list goes on. Our family have always worked for other companies, or were self employed. My sister and I have always enjoyed the construction field and decided to take the business a step further. This really was the beginning of MAC construction.

What have been the first difficulties you had to manage?

As a family business the biggest challenge for us has been each other and the hours! In a normal working environment you start at 09:00 and finish at 17:00 and go home, for us, from the moment we started advertising the business it has been non stop (which we are grateful for), every day is a working day and there is no clocking out time, in order to stay on top of things, meet our customer needs and provide an excellent service. It's been difficult when from a business perspective you do not necessarily agree with your sister, your dad, or another family member, and we have learnt to address our differences from a business perspective (not emotional) and make decisions that will grow MAC Construction.

How did you hear about the Lewisham Construction Hub?

As a business we were looking into growth strategies and decided to make contact with local councils and this lead us to the Lewisham Council website and from there we were directed to the Lewisham Construction Hub. The construction Hub from what we have experienced so far has been extremely useful. You have a fantastic team that wants to see local businesses grow and are always there to assist which makes the process so much easier
